Dump Cake

Description

I discovered this recipe before Thanksgiving and made it for desert then and for Christmas Eve and night parties. It was a hit at all three events! This is so easy to make -- the hardest part is waiting for it to cook!

Ingredients

  • 1 cn crushed pineapple
  • 1 cn cherry pie filling
  • 1 pk yellow cake mix
  • 2 c granola
  • 1 c melted butter

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 325 F.
2. Grease 1 9x13 inch casserole dish.
3. Melt two sticks (1 cup) of butter and set aside.
4. Dump in the can of pineapple including the juice into the pan, spreading evenly.
5. Spread the cherry pie filling over the pineapple.
6. Spread the dry cake mix evenly over all.
7. Sprinkle the granola evenly on top of that.
8. Pour the melted butter over all of this.
9. Bake for 1 hour.

Dump Cake is Win

I've known about Dump Cake for years! It's fabulous. My mom and brothers and I would take that to potlucks all the time and it's been at two recent parties I've attended. I've altered it before with blueberries in place of the pineapple and it worked out well too.

Blueberries and cherries FTW

That sounds awesome. I made a "Black Forest" version that was good but I didn't like it nearly as much. This used two cans of cherries and a chocolate cake mix. It just wasn't as good as I'd hoped.

But blueberries and cherries. Nom!
